Homeschooling: Sight Words!!!!

Hey all,

Soooo... We are really big on doing sight words over here!!! I've had a LOT of naysayers tell me I'm wrong for getting her going so young... But, you all know me and how I feel...If a child understands what you are saying to them, they are seeking knowledge!!!! :)

And, I was even teaching her before that!! It's a must to read to our babies, sing to our babies, listen to music WITH our babies, LISTEN TO OUR BABIES (even if you can't understand what they are saying), etc... All of that plays a HUGE part in the learning process! :) A child is NEVER too young to learn!! EVER!

The saying is: Train a child in the way they should go... That goes for EVERY PART of life, folks! :)

We have been working on ALL of her sight words, but lately, I've decided to break it down into the amount of letters in each sight word (one letter sight words, two letter sight words, etc)...

These past few weeks, we really focused on one and two letter sight words!! She is doing VERY well with them:

I'm very proud with where she's come.  Before, she would go by color, etc., but if you listen to the video, she sounds them out now (the ones that she questions)!! How great is that?!?!?

I'm a firm believer in teaching your babies from a VERY young age the basics, mixed in with some more difficult things.  The younger the better!! When a child can understand what you're saying, they need to have their head in the books! :)

I hope this video uplifts some of my fellow homeschooling mommies and makes ALL of my bloggers smile! If you have any other tips for me, let me know! :)

My happy, smart 26 month old! :)
