Choca: Twisted Sista!!

Hey all,

So, yesterday I decided to go back to Choca's mini twist style.

The reasons:

(1) The Goldi-Faux style we did was awesome... and looked fantastic... However, she started complaining about the cornrows on either side of her head.  Now, I have a HUGE fear of getting bumps around our hairline from things being too tight... When the bumps come, hair is about to COME OUT... So, I took the braids out and flat twisted them on the sides and put a twisted bang in the back:

Revamped w/the flat twists and loose twisted bang in the back... :)  

(2) Choca kept pulling at it and messing with it.  She popped two rubber bands because she kept trying to pull her hair out of the pony twists (We RARELY do pony tails or pony twists OR pony puffs on her hair for that reason):

So, we went back to basics... TWISTS!!! (My favorite)

Alright!!! So, what I did was slowly take the other hairstyle down as I put the twists in... Works so much easier for me like that... and goes QUICKER for both of us... less stress, less fuss! :) AND, I decided to give her a bang this time as well... I usually part it in the front on the side or in the center, but this time, I wanted it to be free to do whatever style we choose!!!

It took about 1 1/2 hours to complete, but it turned out great!  It was my first time using Miss Jessie's products on our hair over here, but it worked really well on these twists.  I dig the consistency of it.  It's not too thick, but it is thick enough to do what you need it to on Choca's hair texture. Also, the smell was delightful and not overpowering. AND... like every other product I use on our hair, there is a white film that will go away as the product dries... Takes about 5-10 minutes to melt away.

She was so pleased with it, she did a video shaking her hair!! HAHA!! Only Choca!!

This style will last a GOOD three weeks!! I will be rinsing it weekly and moisturizing it daily! :)

Choca's Outfit of the Day and a FLASHBACK!! :)

Hey all,

So, I decided to do a cute little Outfit Of The Day (OOTD) with Choca on this post.  Why?? Well, it's simple.  She picked out her clothes today and gave me the camera!! HAHA...

So, the outfit she picked out is a Vintage Dress we got over a year ago. Unsure how much I spent (It's been so long), but I know it was under $3.00! -- When we got it back in the day, we had a mini photo shoot (of course, right?!?!? It's what we do).

She was a little over a year old:

Today, Choca picked out this dress (which is NOW a shirt...), and she picked out some brown and white polka dot tights (given to her by her Auntie)... We then put the SAME flower in her hair that's in the above pictures... AND BAM!!! Instant success!!

Inspiration Blvd: Goldi-Faux -- (with a DC treatment to boot!)

Hey all,

So... I saw this abSOULutely amazing FAUX HAWK style over at Goldilocks*n*Me, and I had to try it out on Choca... Before I go on, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE check out the above linked blog and follow her... She's a BEAST with her hands and gives her beautiful little girl the most amazing hairstyles!! Her blog is amazing!! :) 

Moving on... 

In order for me to do this style, I had to remove the Twisted Marilyn Monroe Faux Hawk, and give her a really good deep conditioning treatment.  Once I took down this hairstyle, I got to DC'ing!!

What I used:

Proclaim Cholesterol Conditioner (Aloe Enhanced)

Proclaim Natural 7 Oil

Water

I sprayed her hair down with water (before I took down the previous style and after) and I then began to slather all of the Cholesterol goodness on her head... After getting it all on there, I finger combed through her hair to make sure it was detangled.  I then put on about FOUR QUARTER SIZED AMOUNTS of Natural 7 Oil on her hair and rubbed it in...

I then covered her hair up in my FAMOUS plastic head wrap, and let it sit for 25 minutes:

After the treatment was complete, Daddy and I rinsed her hair really nice and gave her a nice t-shirt patting to get out a lot of the excess water.

Alright... Now it's time for the Goldi-Faux!!! :)

Products I used:

African Pride Magical Gro

African Pride Olive Miracle Anti-Breakage Formula

Proclaim Tea Tree Leave In Conditioner

Black Rubber Bands

I parted her hair in the back at the bottom, applied the Magical Gro, Olive Miracle and TTLIC, finger combed it through, and put it in a rubber band.  I then twisted it into three twists:

Now, this is where it gets crazy... Choca did NOT want to get her hair done.  She wanted to go to the mirror and look at her fro.  She then wanted to do more homeschooling. After that she got to crying and saying, "Mommy, I don't want hair done.  I don't want hair done." -- Daddy came to her aid (of course... Such a good Daddy), and sung to her, hugged her, kissed her and soothed her to sleep so I could do my business!! :)  

Now, I did change it up a bit, because Choca's hair is not as long as the inspired style, and I didn't want it to be an exact replica (I'll be doing that for BB!! hehe) 

Sadly, because of the events I spoke of, there are no pictures of the actual PROCESS of her getting it done.

Finished style:

It turned out really well.  After she took her little cat nap, she woke up and said, "Mommy, I wanna get dressed. Pictures!!" -- So, we picked out a cute vintage dress (it's now a shirt on her... She's had it for about a year...), some cute tights that my sister got her and VOILA... Instant MODEL STATUS!!!

I love this style on her... You all KNOW I'm a Faux Hawk Queen!! SO, when I saw the style that Goldilocks*n*Me posted up, she gave me so much inspiration and I had to attempt it!!! (Thank you for being my inspiration for this style, doll!!) 

This is a really easy style folks, and so very cute!! I hope you all try it out!! :)

Homeschooling/Unschooling: Field Trip -- Park (Part 2)

Hey all!!

So, after Our AWESOME Library Field Trip:

We decided to keep the field trip love going and went to the park!!! I know some of you are wondering, "HOW DID YOU INCORPORATE SCHOOLING WITH THINGS AT THE PARK?!?!?" -- Well, I'm about to tell you! :) 

The first thing we did was go to the swings... 

While she was on the swings, we would count with her each time she did a complete swing (front, back)... We also did a video with her, and she spoke of her surroundings:

We then went to the slide!! What did we do on the slide?? Well, we counted to TEN, and then she went down the slide!! We did this a few times and she got the hang of it... knowing that when TEN came, she'd slide down!

We then went up the rock wall!! How fun was this!?!?! She counted all the rocks and then went up them (with help from daddy!!) She had a blast on it!

Then, we went running after a gopher!! She kept saying, "Get the baby!! GET THE BABY!!!" The baby went in it's hole... 

So, on the way back to the park area, we ran into some leaves.  Choca has ALWAYS been intrigued by leaves, trees, flowers, etc... So, what a perfect photo opportunity!

Then, the 'ANTS' she was talking about in her video up top?? Yeah... We took pictures with them!! :) 

She said, "Ant, say cheese, baby!! Say cheese, Ant!" LOL 

She said this one looked like BB!! LMBOOOOOOO!

AND... This last one?? She said, "Hopper too hot!!" -- but, I took a picture of it anyway!

The 'hopper'! :) 

Nature!! Gotta love it!!! I'm a fan!! :)
