Friday Flair With Choca!!!

Hey all!!!

So today, Choca decided she wanted to rock one of the new crocheted hats that my husband had made for her (Shout out to Brittany @ Britt's Knits for her amazing crocheting skills).  I paired her black, yellow and white hat with ALL VINTAGE ITEMS: a cute white tank, jean capri pants and a simple jean jacket.  She wanted to finish it off with her pink sandals (that's her FAVORITE COLOR), so I obliged that request!!!

AND... here is her flair for this beautiful Friday:

How cute is she this lovely Friday!?!?!? :)

I hope you all enjoyed this cute little post as much as she enjoyed posing for it! LOL

Homeschooling MY Way!!!!

Hey all!!

So yesterday, I was reading in magazine that when a child is under the age of 2, it's IMPERATIVE to NOT let them watch any type of television... not even DVD's!! They state that this will hinder the child and the child's learning capacity.

Let's rewind...

I've been Homeschooling Choca since birth... Reading to her daily, doing flash cards of ABC's, 123's, shapes, colors, etc... I've also made it a point to let her WATCH (ON TV... WHO KNEW?!?!) Educational Shows (Sign Language, ABC/123, Math, English, Science, etc)... ALSO, we have several field trips a week in which we visit libraries, aquariums, parks, schools, grocery stores, etc...

Now, Choca is 2 years old (2.8 years for those who do that...). She's FLUENT in American Sign Language, reads, writes (knows how to write SEVERAL of her letters), spells words and knows what they are, knows all of her shapes and numbers AND knows math...Not to mention she speaks in COMPLETE sentences (using big words here and there in the right context...surprising even ME!) She can also help me cook certain meals because of her understanding of fractions (still working on those!!!)

We went to the doctor on Monday... The doctor looks at her and says, "Hello... MY name is Dr. ______! What's your name? Choca gives her name, and shakes the Docs hand.  The doctor smiles.  She then says, "How old are you, sweetie? Choca says, "I'm 2 years old.  How old are you, Doctor??" The doctor gives her age.  She then looks at me and says, "Soooo... Is she really 2?? Oooor...." I state that she's two.  She then says, "WOW!! And she talks so clearly?!?!? That's amazing. She speaks and carries herself as if she is four or five!"

#PROUDMOMMYMOMENT

As you can see, JUST because someone states that one way is the ONLY way doesn't mean that it's true.  Choca learned all that she does because of the help of television, and a family that is close-knit and willing to keep at it with her in order to keep her on track.

Oh... And she's a little fashionista!! LOL :)

Observance of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Hey all,

So... Today I wanted to do something for the GREAT Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

"A nation or civilization that continues to produce soft-minded men purchases its own spiritual death on the installment plan."

"An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity."

"An individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law."

"Discrimination is a hellhound that gnaws at Negroes in every waking moment of their lives to remind them that the lie of their inferiority is accepted as truth in the society dominating them."

"Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase."

Glory to GOD for this man... standing up against the negative and the racism and the foolery to bring Black people up out of bondage and despair!! I'm truly thankful for him and all that he did for us...

Thank you, Dr. King!! You are truly missed and I'm forever grateful for the part you have played in history for me and my family!!

Hey all...

Soooooo... This past week, I've neglected my hair like no other... LOL...I had my hair in an awesome afro last week  that I put Blended Beauty Natural Oil and Angela's K.I.S.S. Natural Hair Cream (Cake Icing Scent) on... I picked it out, and blam:

After doing this style.. I haven't combed it... Just had it back in an afro puff it... For a WEEK.... NO extra juices and berries... No extra spritzing... Nothing!! It's been like this all week:

Sooooo... Today, I decided to take out my puff and really take a good look at the hair I've done NOTHING to this past week... Ummm...

Now.... I KNOW what it should look like, and this ain't it!! LOL... Like to hear about it??? Well, here you go:

Yeah... SO... stay tuned for a more presentable version of me soon!! HAHA!! Of course I'll blog about it!! :)

Friday Flair... ON THE AVENUE!!! -- Hair, Fashion & Rest!!

Hey all...

So today, I decided that I would show my girls' hairstyles of the day and then Choca's PERSONALLY PICKED outfit(s) of the day as well... OF course the outfits are vintage.... She also wanted to show off her new boots! :)

Soooooo... hairstyles?!?!

CC has truly embraced her shrinkage (which I love!!!), and she's also learned how to do her twists VERY well! She's not a big fan of early morning pictures... But, I think she's beautiful just the same!!!

BB wanted to have her signature 'rose' on the side and a side ponytail... I obliged:

Choca wanted her hair to mimic CC's:

Then... We took the older babies to school... We then had the mini photo op w/Choca!!

She's rockin' a really cute pink tank and some jeans... ($2.99 for the entire outfit)... We then put her hair up into two ponytails and paired her new boots with some cute leg warmers. She snatched up her shades and Spongebob gloves and BAM:

SWITCH!!! She wanted her boots OFF (LOL @ 2 year olds), and her pants changed... So, she got herself some white pants ($.99) and rocked it out... OH... And she didn't want ponytails anymore... LOL

HAHAHA!! She's so cute!! Then... I guess she was done...

...because she zonked out on me!! LOL...

I hope you enjoyed this post... I truly enjoyed making it for you all! :) <3
